Thread: SSH + Display question

hey

have desktop pc running ubuntu gnome gui, , windows laptop.

want able connect desktop ssh, , command gui applications launch.

example, putty, running command: "firefox".

thing is, ssh wont let me run applications needing x environment, or something?

question, there way run ssh commands start gui applications? maybe specifiying display or something?

connect ssh server x forwarding

man page:
code:
 -x      enables x11 forwarding.  can specified on per-host basis in configuration file.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
