How Does Compression affect Integrity of Colours?

when compression doesn't mess colours, simplifies image, , functionally pixelates it.

the pixelated image above has same colour balance other two.

 

so how compression affect integrity of colours?

i'm not gonna waste word on example think 1 variable haven't thought about. time. think gops.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
