hi folks,

new ubuntu, may easy thing fix, dunno. running ubuntu 11.10 , downloaded privateer gold (privateergold1.03.bz2.bin) , attempted install after changing file permission allow executing file program. open terminal , type "sudo sh privateergold1.03.bz2.bin" error statement "sh: can't open privateergold1.03.bz2.bin"

have looked @ various forums , no 1 else seems have same issue, must doing pretty basic wrong. have tried run root , same message.

suggestions appreciated.

try;

sudo ./privateergold1.03.bz2.bin
make sure exit installer when done, , not launch game it.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
