Thread: Error in Aptdaemon: installation fails

i unable install new software either through software center or terminal.
terminal gives error:
e: not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: permission denied)
e: unable lock administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), root?

software center gives error:
unhandlable error occured
there seems programming error in aptdaemon, software allows install/remove software , perform other package management related tasks

first: try reboot. if doesn't work, can see permissions lock file has?
