Thread: Error when installing applications.

in kubuntu 11.10, when try install applications through package manager or central application following message appears.

this operation can not continue because not provided proper authorization.
this began occur after uninstalled kubuntu-desktop accidentally. happened follows. tried remove lamp server command
code:
 sudo apt-get remove lamp-server ^
, when went see there several desktop applications being removed. applications being removed without asking me before, , without telling me happen. why there mine there? , worse because there unmarked land mine?

did quick google search , found following command reinstall kubuntu-desktop
code:
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
.

after restarting system missing applications had installed after installing kubuntu. ok, let's install again. damn! began appear error noted above.

how solve this?

neither windows 98 brought me many problems. have reinstall kubuntu every 2 weeks due problems arise , can not solve.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
