i'm trying write .desktop file link executable (cave story specifically) in 1 of directories, issue i'm running seems run when it's called terminal within directory (./executable).

trying call within terminal other directory using full filepath or clicking on file manager doesn't work (a black box appears, vanishes , in terminal few lines produced, program doesn't run).

ideas why activity different depending on try execute from? , how solve this.

not ubuntu user, not sure .desktop files, have tried cd first?
code:
cd /path/to/directory; ./executable

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
