1. under lucid, when searching file/directory, right click , choose properties location of file (though fact search function not automatically show full path of file inexplicable me). if file buried several layers deep or has long name, full path of file not show in standard properties pop-up (lucid , oneiric), under lucid, maximize or resize window until full pathname display. under oneiric, there no more minimize/maximize buttons on search/properties windows (and few other window i've run far), close. if resize window manually, bigger window lots of nice blank space , no new info! - path shown in sized window not extend larger window, meaning left guess might after first couple of directory levels.

2. search not return info on hidden files/directories. yes. "show hidden files" checked.

based on fact talking being able access properties window search (which can't dash search), sure sounds talking nautilus, file manager of gnome desktop environment instead of unity...

anyway, full path there, though might not fit window, can still example copy&paste , full path. , it's not automatically shown because search might return many files instead of one, , in different locations. there sure isn't room give full (perhaps rather long) path each file @ same time.

way, properties window on system has window buttons...

yes, assume looks same. access "home" function of unity panel , pulls file manager looks pretty same nautilus under lucid did. more of nautilus under oneiric rather unity issue.

of course, function display full pathname, either keystroke view change (e.g. files listed switch full pathnames) or in separate bar upon selecting 1 line of result list pretty basic function of file managers going 20 years. can choose filename result, right click properties box, select (partially displayed) pathname, open gedit session , plop selection in see it, having nuts.

file search function unity dash diddly-squat me. if access clicking on documents icon, enter search string @ top , hit enter either closes or sits there , returns nothing. if access via dash/files , folders, result same.
