Thread: Internet Detection problem

hello,
on newly purchased acer 5250 laptop installed ubuntu 11.10, followed string of random lockups, more not triggered attempting connect wireless network. decided "downgrade" ubuntu 10.04 lts, thinking more reliable/stable. finished fresh install , ubuntu not detecting internet connections - neither wireless networks other laptops detect nor ethernet connection using.
ideas on how approach this? appreciated!

if want try 11.10 again, run "additional drivers" , see if there wireless drivers need.

ubuntu 10.04, seems have driver issue there, too, without internet i'm not sure it.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
