Thread: Modifying Ubuntu menus

i using ubuntu 10.04 , love it! when right click on main menu in upper left hand corner,and select edit menus, totally redo menus liking. seems pretty straight forward me. question is, if this, how ubuntu know install new software? way now, ubuntu knows avidemux belongs under sound & video, abiword belongs under office menu. there serious issues if decide rearrange/ rename menu items?

i think find ubuntu has fixed place display item on menu. if therefore remove menu heading ubuntu recreate , put new piece of software has been instructed to.

if install gambas , not have "programming" menu option ubuntu creates it.

issue being end moving things around each time add new piece of software.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
