Thread: Start-up Loops

this machine has ubuntu 10.04 , has been running sometime without problems.

of sudden in last week software starts load the system loops.

(was) single user machine. when powered went right desktop , ready used.

image desktop beginning displayed, machine loops login screen. if click on user name, machine point begins display desk top (it shows 2 icons files on desktop) , reverts login screen. broken.

have added second user , if name selected @ login screen, system loads desktop normally.

fix appreciated. thank you.

this rather odd....did make updates have busted system? or changes gnome/unity? de use default? have kind of backup roll to?

*note: have not expirience such problems, going through logical deduction here*

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
