Thread: USB drive appears unformatted.

have got usb drive has exhibited following behavior few times:

format drive (different fs types, 1 more partitions)
use drive 3-5 times no issues
drive appears unformatted , useless.
can't run recovery software.

plugging in device results in nothing stub:
there's entry in dev folder, /dev/sdb
, lsusb shows device.

that's it.
gparted doesn't detect device @ all.
disk utility shows device unformatted "memory bar"
dd, ddrescue , "no medium found"

now, stupid having used device more twice. twice of same sort of error , no solution should have made me move on different device.

there (were) couple of large files on drive. i'd able try , recover them.

no partitions showing , disk utility it's basic "reformat it" tool available have possibility of bringing files back?
