Thread: Using Ubuntu 11.10 should I install Xfce4 or Xubuntu-desktop?

hi.

using ubuntu 11.10 on gnome-fallback mode. better unity or gnome 3 shell.

want try xfce4 (xubuntu) not know should install?

if install xubuntu-desktop, install other things abiword, gnumeric , lots of stuff redundant xfburn etc.

should install:

sudo apt-get install xfce4
or

code:
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
would having xubuntu , ubuntu slow down system?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
