Why do filenames add '-2' upon import? These images are not already in Lightroom catalog

i know file same attributes of existing image cannot have same filename , duplicates add '-2.  images i'm importing not in lightroom catalog. don't understand why lightroom adding '-2' end of each filename.

 

any suggestions welcome.

what type of import doing:  copy, copy dng, move, add?

 

what source , destination folders import?

 

you -2 on end of files if accidentally doing copy import when meant add import , source , destination same folder.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
