Cannot import images

whilst ps reads files external hard drives (previously worked windows)onto imac, lr sees files "dimed" , not import. there no error message. what's going on?

this means have imported these photos lightroom library module, , don't need import them 2nd time (normally importing photos 2nd time bad idea).

 

thus, should photos in lightroom library module. search file name or folder or other relevant criterion.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
