field average calculation

i designing employee review form , in form have field calculates average of set number of other fields. problem users can enter 1-5 or n, n = no experience. want average field average fields 1-5 in them , skip n fields. have tried multiple ways of acomplishing this, none have worked. use on one!!

have tried "custom calculation script"?

 

a custom calculation script required use of specific field names processed.

 

unless computing average on items might consider using function counting , summing fields , values in range of questions.

 

since possible no questions answered, need allow count of 0 items being used computation.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
