Scroll Function/MS Mouse & Keyboard Center

in earlier mouse control panels, able assign application specific settings mouse, in aa3 when held mouse wheel button down, audio scroll function ("rocking reels" in analog world). newer win7 control panel called mouse & keyboard center, , while can make specifics per application, not see way assign wheel button before. had replace mouse, too. it's microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
