Thread: 10.04 Boot Disk gets stuck on logo and 5 dots

well, machine crapped out today. tries boot , gives me bunch of illegible gibberish borg decipher. so, check disk, went live cd boot. nothing. disk runs , ubuntu logo , 5 dots on screen , that's stays. cd stops running , dots keep on running across screen. tried nomodeset , same thing.

other ideas? i'm chuck computer out window.

how old unit? bad memory stick or bad connection internally. begin checking connections, swapping ram in & out. few thoughts.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
