Thread: How di I check SATA controller speed?

hi all.
have bought hp proliant microserver serve nas installed ubuntu server 10.04.3.

have dilemma whether sata controller sata2 or sata3. has 4 hdd bays , comes single 250gb sata2 disk. believe there parameter in hdparm check speed interface since disk sata2 show sata2 anyway.
there command can show me controller speed/sata version? have executed lspci , says:
sata controller: ati sb700/sb800 sata controller [ahci mode] (rev 40)

googled , found 1 ubuntu bug report (for previous ubuntu versions) poster said has mobo sata3 , controller reported lspci same, letter. i'm not sure if definite proof sata3 controller. since says otherwise:

have exact part number. says storage controller sata 300.

want start planning hdd purchase , great if can me resolve dilemma controller. server headless have ssh access.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
