Thread: installing skype? please help?

hi
downloaded skype using link...http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-sky...omputer/linux/ once download it, new window comes "ubuntu software centre" saying stuff skype button saying "install" pressed it, , starts install once finishes, nothing happens? not on desktop or anywhere? wont launch? please me ?

skype in repositories, make sure have partners repository enabled in software sources, use preferred method of installing it.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
