Thread: Intel GMA 3150 performance

hi. bought intel motherboard d525mw dual core cpu d525 , intel gma 3150 graphics card. wanted hw replacement "old notebook nas, torrent, web server private use". curious performance of hw on desktop distribution. surprised performance compared old p4 3ghz dell optiplex. started thinking replacing p4 motherboard (power comsumption ~30w against ~100w). graphics performance looked worse. tried linux mint 11 there - graphics performance did not fine - bit laggy, usable. tried xubuntu , lubuntu lightweight alternative. xubuntu - because feels not minimalistic lubuntu. - when compare these 2 distros, in xubuntu scrolling of webpages laggy or delayed (by moving scrollbar). scrolling mouse wheel looks better or fine. in lubuntu scrolling perfect (still can see delay). in xubuntu quite annoying. when change width of window 1/2 of screen (1680x1050) scrolling looks fine.

normal performance of intel gma 3150 graphic card poor? thought best vga linux intel one. have other pc (p4 3ghz) nvidia gt 8500 vga , graphics performance there absolutely super.
have old notebook pentium m 1.6ghz cpu , integrated intel vga (815 think) , there graphics performance better on intel d525mw board.

think - forget using d525mw desktop , use nas box? or there solution integrated intel vga?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
