Thread: Oneric update problem - Failed to download repository information

i have done fresh install of 11.10 on new laptop when go install updates keeps giving following error:

'failed download repository information'

when click on 'details' gives following info:

w:failed fetch gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-security_universe_binary-amd64_packages hash sum mismatch
, w:failed fetch gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-security_main_binary-i386_packages hash sum mismatch
, w:failed fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/di...-i386/packages 404 not found [ip: 91.189.92.166 80]
, e:some index files failed download. have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
i have tried using different repositories problem still exists.

hope can

looks website either down or incorrectly spelled... rewrite , redownload iso boot image... might work

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
