Thread: Unable to install Ubuntu due to error

hi, downloaded latest ubuntu , install it. inserted disc, booted cd , chose install alongside windows.

shows table 6 partitions in hdd namely

/dev/sd1 fat16 size 41 mb, used 33 mb
/dev/sda2 ntfs size 5368 mb used 1074 mb
/dev/sda3 ntfs size 42949 mb used 36211 mb
/dev/sda5 ntfs size 42949 mb used 91 mb
/dev/sda6 ntfs size 107374 mb used 47087 mb
/devsda7 nts size 301409 mb used 48760 mb

want use

/dev/sda5 ntfs size 42949 mb used 91 mb

ubuntu selected , clicked install now button. shows

no root file system defined

please correct partitioning menu.
device fro boot loader installation :

given /dev/sda ata samsung hm500jj (500.1 gb)

please tell me hwo proceed further.

you have designate whether partition "/" root partition designation. found when in partitioner of installation process. if created partition or wanted use 1 /home, store files , such, designate also.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
