Thread: What is the best way to recover from a frozen graphical system?

as experimenting, finding system freezes every once , awhile.
best way recover that?

in windows i'm use using infamous 3 finger salute: ctrl + alt + del
in linux (my version anyway 11.04 currently) brings "shutdown" or "suspend" or "restart" options only. there no option kill process or recover in way (like logging out or something?).
have option?

referring gnome desktop freezing guess. i've heard can open terminal , kill process way, system frozen that.

guess, in general how do this? how kill errant program, , 1 freezes computer?

mind you, i'm not blaming linux or ubuntu, things i'm doing involve wine , trying run windows programs inside linux example, not exclusively.

its called "system monitor" in ubuntu

cheers.
