Thread: Why is my fan always running on Ubuntu?

i went ahead , installed ubuntu 11.10 using disc. i'm dual booting between ubuntu , win 7. looks fine. thing makes me wonder why fan blowing when i'm on ubuntu. computer silent when in win 7....

have dell studio xps 7100. processor amd 1090t (6 cores @ 3.2ghz). graphics card ati radeon 5770. have 16gb of ram.

has else come across issue before?
