What the heck!!?? Rectangular Marquee tool problem!

recently started use rectangluar marquee tool more vignettes on photos.. noticed in last 2 days when hit rm tool , try , drag rectangular box , hit green check mark around photo defaults eclipse or thought circle. yes sure have set on correct marquee. it's kinda annoying tryiny creat box around photo vignette , defaults eclipse ( or cirlce).

 

i don't have screen shot right now, try , 1 later...but has happened? changed? or do  need reset tools?

 

also last night when digital scrapbooking, made pattern filled 4x6 @ 200dpi photo background pattern had made, when went merge visable latyers background pattern in disappeared. when unmerged visable  background came back..?? ideas why happend??

for rectangular marquee tool check feather value in tool options bar.

it should set 0 px.

for second question if view image @ 100% view (actual pixels) before , while merging layers, make difference?

(double click on zoom tool in tool box see view @ 100%  (actual pixels)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
