Advice on books for learning CS3 Master Collection

i've been trying learn as can tutorials , basic knowledge around web.  understanding little go, thinking book or 2 might me well.  have several sites visit time time, don't need on front.  can give me advice on literature should buy?  own cs3 master collection, , i'm hoping learn photoshop, after effects, premiere pro, dreamweaver, , maybe other programs related web design.  i've heard bible series pretty good, since i'm still considered new don't know start.  , not sure if place ask, far web design concerned, should book coding? 

 

sorry if topic asked every 5 seconds, i've looked around as , literally last option.  , in case wondering, asking in forum since every time start off in 1 program end in photoshop, assume people know photoshop know of other programs, didn't see forum best suited question.  appreciated.

you best buy individual books each application.

some books try have overview of several different applications, give barest amount of information on each 1 , useless.

 

some books bible series extremely large (photoshop cs3 on 1,200 pages) don't assume more automatically better.

i think make of them big impress people looking instruction book @ local bookstore.

 

the bible , other books include cd of images , give step step instructions using supplied images.

but don't explain how procedures work , why using procedure rather another.

they said, this, that, thing, etc.

 

the quick start guide series peachpit press dispenses hand-holding step step intructions.

it explains how , why things , has screenshots on every page show menus, tools , procedures of using photoshop.

the quick start books give solid information , more affordable, helpfull if buying several books different applications.

 

peachpit press has series of books, real world series. these larger books without cd, etc.

over last 20 years i've had many different books, in estimation peachpit books best of bunch. mileage may vary.

 

since cs3 rather old, i'm assuming looking @ amazon or other online sellers. might able used books through amazon resellers reduced price.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
