Installed Adobe Reader XL successfully but it will NOT open PDF files

i have installed adobe reader on new computer (installed , uninstalled many times today) each time install same results.  when open adobe reader opens grey screen , closes.  it doesn't matter if click on pdf file or open icon same result.  i can open these files adobe reader version 9 (on computer).  i running windows 7.

 

how can copy of adobe 9 try it?

 

try this: use windows explorer , navigate c:\program files (x86)\adobe\reader 11.0\reader, double-click on eula.exe , accept license agreement.

 

if want revert reader 9.x, uninstall reader xi , download installer http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
