my computer locks every time try use lighting effects filter.

does turning off »use graphics processor« in performance preferences , restarting photoshop have bearing on issue?

are photoshop , os updated , have performed usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting photoshop until appropriate dialog appears after making sure customized presets actions, patterns, brushes etc. have been saved , making note of preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
