Thread: powerdown USB


i need find command line option power down usb drive.

know nautilus can powerdown device, have not been successful udisks --detach /dev/sdb or udisks --unmount /dev/sdb1 - eludes me - read udisks documentation, no luck!

ideas?

you use sudo umount /dev/sdx
usb drive no longer mounted (no read/write activity) doubt can cut power device more few seconds, before daemon again snoops around looking new devices. can power down safe removal per disk utility but, isn't ask for, nor, believe, keep power off more long enough pull usb plug/drive out.
