this problem has persisted years -- since hardy heron. when sign on, can't go online (either through firefox or update on root) without doing restart. wondering if because had change boot order going hard drive first in order install ubuntu disc. can fix this? every time without fail signing on , doing restart in order online. notebook computer connected ethernet cable webtell router. service high speed verizon. problem not exist 2 other computers on router.

go system > administration > additional drivers , see if there other drivers available ethernet card.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
