Thread: Soundblaster Xfi full volume

situation:
ubuntu 10.04 (lucid lynx)
alsa 1.0.21
soundblaster xfi 5.1 usb sound card

problem 1:
usb sound card set full volume default (at start-up, after sleep etc.)

problem 2:
gnome-volume-control reverts control internal (in case, hda intel) sound card after sleep.

solution:
install pavucontrol (pulse audio volume control) , in configuration tab, change internal card "analog stereo input". make backup of /etc/pulse/daemon.conf find line says "flat-volumes" , change - either 'yes' 'no' or vice versa. mine 'no', changed 'yes'. save changes , restart. there way restart pulseaudio without restarting computer, lazy find out.

hope helps.

mike.
