Thread: ubnuntu 11.10 and SSD

i buying new 120gb ssd , install in first partition win7 , in second ubuntu 11.10 (only "/" - "/home" , "swap" other partitions in hdd).

know win7 installer allign first partition , auto enable trim when installed.

after finish win7 installation, install ubuntu 11.10. on, need opinion. should alignment. ubuntu installer auto align partition or should manually? , trim? enabled automatically, or need edit manually fstab?

please don't give me links various places in net. have read many contradicting posts, of them outdated garbage. canonical should have kind of official guide concerning ssd...

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
