font has started looking like a screen/raster font?

i've posted 2 screen shots of problem causes font (that has rendered perfectly) display initially screen/raster image.

 

once rollover each of selections, refresh cleanly.

am correct you've resolved issue? text looks normal me in chrome , safari. (i didn't check other browsers.)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
