Thread: 11.10 ubuntu can't reboot :( stuck on ubuntu logo

hi all,

updated ubuntu 11.10 today , reason can't reboot.

shutting down works fine tho.

tried sudo shutdown -r , not work either, hangs @ logo again.

other pointers?

it don't have apm module loaded. following:

1. change root , open file /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
2. part that's headed "apm support" (in file, it's near top)
3. if see line #/sbin/modprobe apm, delete # , save file.

think you'll have restart (if u can) machine changes take effect.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
