Thread: Booting from USB on a Mac

i know can boot usb flash drive in windows pressing f12 on startup, there simple way of doing same thing on mac? have both , intel macbook pro , mac g5. when hold down option while starting can see os x drive , boot that.

in theory, should able boot usb drive holding down alt key. however, on macbook doesn't work. can hold down key long wish osx. works fine when cd in drive not when usb drive attached.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
