Thread: How to activate SWAP partition permanently?

hello everyone,

i've installed ubuntu without swap partition. after installation, i've created new swap paritition , activated using commands:
code:
mkswap /dev/sda2 sync swapon /dev/sda2
unfortunately, after reboot swap partition inactive again. guess have edit system files.

please, can me that. thank in advance.

i turned mine on gparted (right clicked partition & selected "swapon"). has stayed on ever since.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
