Thread: How to handle varying number of displays?

hi!

got laptop have installed 11.10. when on road have built in dispaly use. when @ home have 1 external display , use both internal , external one. @ work have 2 external screen (my laptop can drive 2 screens) , use external screens , not internal one.

laptop has recent nvidia grapgic board , use latest manufacturer driver.

how can manually (or better automatically) select right configuration depending on how many screen attached?

when used windows 7 easy have machine pick right profile , hope doable linux since nicer in many other ways

i don't think should have problem this. laptop (nvidia card) , netbook both behave in respect. in fact, netbook works better in ubuntu in win7.

have tried this? happened when did?

should mention, not happen automatically, @ least not going 1 monitor many. if shutdown, unplug external , restart, think should come wanting use in-built monitor.
external turned on, have open nvidia settings application, not hard.
