right, i've been meaning post ages suggested friend move on ubuntu after windoze problems , he's got same issue...

laptop fan going @ full blast when it's in ubuntu - sounds it's going take off sometimes! have old hp compaq 6720s. i'm not sure laptop mate has it's not same one.

got idea causing this?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
