Thread: Need basic configuration for openLDAP & Samba .

hi,
have configured samba server on ubuntu system.i want add open ldap client machines may authenticate it.

kindly guide me basic configuration openldap & samba.

there many tutorials online sort of thing. configuration not basic , need need make choices how set ldap server.

samba, check out samba documentation. there examples of need include , there samba schema need load well.

authentication , authorization, need make sure have nis schema loaded have posix account attributes.

there several things need configure:

1. /etc/smb.conf
2. /etc/nsswitch.conf
3. /etc/pam.d/
4. /etc/ldap.conf
5. ldap schema configuration, depending on how setup ldap configuration vary.

there several configuration files involved depending on implementation.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
