Thread: Opening KMZ files in Archive manager

i bought new machine, , installed ubuntu 11.11 fresh.

cannot open .kmz files in archive manager. 'archive type not supported' message.

solutions? know can open them in google earth, i'm developing applications write them, , want see what's written in enclosed kml file.

there no problem in previous version (10.04) had installed.

you should able associate .kmz extension archive manager using nautilus. if remember correctly right-click on file , choose application open with. understanding kmz files use standard zip format archive manager should open 1 fine.

cat /usr/share/applications/defaults.list | grep file-roller
will show have associated archive manager. see if have local defaults.list this:

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
