Thread: Problem with apache password

hello everyone,

know how reset apache 2.2 password in lucid. i've been searching feel i'm missing cause i'm not being successful.

----------

2 days ago upgraded karmic lucid (which kind of nightmare not-so-expert-user me because of fact karmic repositories gone servers).

during 1 of update approaches tried (i think happened booting alternate installer cd), installation program promped me "the" apache password go on. rather puzzled because don't remember having installed apache in computer (i thought installed default don't remember intentionally doing it), had no idea password. found alternative way upgrade , didn't give more thought it.

----------

today trying change background of login screen following instructions found on this video (they described on this web). instructions change text terminal before login , type:
code:
export display=:0.0 sudo -u gdm gnome-control-center
then, when return graphic terminal, you're supposed find gnome-control-center window there change background conveniently. found when changed ctrl+alt+f7 graphic terminal gone , instead had text prompting me apache password again.

rebooted , normal. of course, couldn't change background following method, annoys me apache password thing , fix i'm not stuck every , then.

----------

tried googleing "reset apache password" , stuff seems point out change mysql root password. assumed password had change , tried follow instructions described here.

couldn't follow first instruction of shutting down mysql (sudo /etc/init.d/mysql stop) because "mysql" can not found in "init.d" folder. so, described in same place, tried confirm through command "ps -a | grep mysql" yielded nothing. thought thing not running default since, far know, not using it. then, typed following instruction ("sudo mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &"), yielded "[1] 2986". , had run "mysql" start client, seems mysql client not installed so, whenever tried that, ubuntu complained , suggested me run apt-get.

honestly, ran out of ideas grateful if give me hint on how solve issue.

thank you!

m

pd: @ package manager can see apache (2.2) , related packages installed, package called mysql-common (5.1.41).
