Thread: problem with Canon Pixma iP1500 since upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10

hi there,
upgraded wife's laptop ubuntu 10.10 11.10. on 10.10 did manage canon ip1500 work fine. since upgrade no matter try, printer refuses print!
installed easy way (searching print in dash, add, etc..). saw driver in list thought "easy!!" until pressed "print test page"... , nothing! printer flash little while, nothing happen. people have described on other forums, etc.. no solution or seems.
followed step described here: , here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/canonpixmaip1500 using last driver downloaded canon. 2.5 driver canon in list, printer not flash time, nothing!! dead beast!
bought ip4950 own computer , works fine both computers (as share printer wife's laptop). tested ip1500 under windows , prints fine there!
sure there silly happening symlink not made/working 11.10. can find log of sent printer? might help?!
thing not want throw away printer because of ubuntu 11.10 (in view ubuntu 11.x worse 10.10, , not talking unity here... 11.10 might buggier 11.04..)... enough moaning.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
