Thread: remapping keys

on notebook, kids ruined several keys. remapped essential ruined keys lesser used keys. now,i wish remove printscreen key accidentally keep tapping every 3 minutes , remap backspace, after 1 hour , 45 minutes of googling, giving up, nearly. don't remember how did this, before.

best guess used xev . crude , weird tool kinda tells key code or serial 22 print screen key....then use xmodmap , nothing type works. /home/.xinitrc reads xmodmap .xmodmap makes no sense, has done

after 2 hours, discovered xmodmap designed torture , dissuade new users os. far easier gedit .xmodmap file. xev needed, or @ least useful. name xev should changed change more memorable, keycode. that, easy. genius merge 2 tools; make things easy.

also, if xmodmap file exist load, easy. fortunately didn't need alter script load xmodmap.
