Thread: Ubuntu and SSD

hello!
curious way ubuntu manages ssd, concerning low level operations in file system. in particular, ssd managed in same way of magnetic hd or managed differently optimize usage of each type of disk?
in advance!

standard installs have been modified install on boundries work better ssd & 4k drives.

there settings , newer kernels have built in features. of settings related reduced writes.

bios settings (ssd systems)

want journal speed system recovery if have repairs or run fsck. if partition small not take long fsck anyway , without journal writing reduced.
ssd’s, journaling, , noatime/relatime
http://thunk.org/tytso/blog/2009/03/...atimerelatime/
noatime, nodiratime options in fstab make ssd last longer when using ext4 partition

info older , less , less special settings required systems configured correctly. write life of ssd not different hard drive of reduced write settings not critical (may more important on flash drives slow).
