Thread: drive space
after trying use linux 12 years, reading thousands of pages , abandoning linux 1 reason or another, still have no recollection or knowledge how check free space on drive. (one of linux mental blocks totally reject drive can directory. reject this, reject this, reject this.).
nautilus useless, since shows file system , not drive. size varies hundreds of megs minute, depending on folder in. come on, user of windows can=p find out in 5 minutes of using windows, , never forget. also, window has better warning , protection against running out of free space unexpectedly. other day, nautilus telling me have 100 200 megs free, file system hit 0 after trying install 1 deb. locked me out of main user account, guessing validation file couldn't copied due lack of space.
mean?
$ df -h
filesystem size used avail use% mounted on
/dev/sda1 5.3g 4.4g 596m 89% /
udev 249m 236k 249m 1% /dev
none 249m 272k 249m 1% /dev/shm
none 249m 324k 249m 1% /var/run
none 249m 0 249m 0% /var/lock
none 249m 0 249m 0% /lib/init/rw
