Thread: No Internet access whatsoever

hi, i'm brand new ubuntu, , installed ubuntu 10.04.

seems working fine except have no internet access whatsoever, not ethernet or wireless.

when connect ethernet reads "not connected", though connection works on other windows laptop.

wireless connection reads "device not ready". have read other forums , can't seem figure out issue is.

please provide more details help
1. hardware (processor, motherboard, ethernet card)
2. type of network (dhcp or not)
3. settings network working on ms windows.?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
