Thread: rescue mode now totally useless

i trying enter rescue mode fix problem partition.

want disable line in fstab can't mount drives because hangs when select option mount them. if drop root shell goes read mode absolutely no use anyone! why hell this? , how solve without booting live cd?

you should enter single user rw mode (not rescue mode).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
