flames, there 1 name called, , poster said "jk" right after that. word censored in first post not directed @ anyone.
comes down to, in opinion, thread should reopened. not violate coc once go on under section of coc. can thread reopened, , 1 or 2 offending posts removed (if any)?
time.

i see no compelling reason open thread , discourage os bashing here. find several of posts marginal @ best , can understand how people view them offensive.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
