Thread: ubuntu install on laptop alongside vista

he trying install ubuntu alongside vista on laptop. wants have dual-boot can switch in between them.

step supposed have option "install ubuntu along-side vista".

not give option.

have option "replace vista ubuntu...." "other...." not automatically install vista alongside ubuntu.

have installed ubuntu alongside vista , windows7 don't think ever encountered before. trying avoid manually re-partitioning hard-drive. has 250 gig ntfs right vista, , don't want manually.

is windows vista partition taking of hard drive space?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
