Thread: Update Software Center is gone on 11.10

hello, messed software center/update manager (11.10). trying work on sources , install repositories make google chromium working.
long story short, update manager not launch anymore , see have pending updates install.

following error message: "task cannot monitored or controlled. connection daemon lost. background daemon crashed."

when click on details, get: "it seems daemon died".

there way repair or reinstall software center?

when click on it, comes 1/10 seconds , goes away.

i try loading synaptic package manager software center. run it. search update manager , try reinstalling it. see attached.

if need more let know.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
